The SouthCoast Open Air Market has a program made for kids called SOAM Kid Biz. This allows for businesses owned and operated by children between the ages of seven and eighteen to participate in the market free of charge, thanks to the generous sponsorship by Somerset Federal Credit Union.

The market does have a few spots left for Kids to join in the 2021 season. If you know a creative kid who would love to sell their creations, you can click HERE for the SOAM Kid Biz Application.

Ten-year-old Amalia Rego first entered the program back in September of 2018 and she is grateful for the progress she's made as a young person in business because of it.

"The SOAM Kid Biz program has allowed me to be a young entrepreneur and has helped me get over my shyness and helped me talk to people," Rego said. "I am very thankful for SOAM, Miss Allison, and Somerset Federal Credit Union."

The Southcoast Open Air Market is proud of how this particular program has impacted all of the kids in the community who have participated in Kid Biz.

“The SOAM Kid Biz program is probably our most rewarding experience to witness. So many of these kiddos come in a bit timid, nervous to put themselves and their art out there to the community. However, by the end of the season, their confidence is boosted and their art and business are visibly flourishing. This is because that person already existed inside of them, SOAM just helps provide the community support around them to bring it out a bit faster.”

The Southcoast Open Air Market will host its opening day on Saturday, June 5. All SOAM events take place on Saturdays through October 23 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Swansea YMCA located at 271 Sharps Lot Road. For more information, contact SOAM via email at hello@southcoastopenairmarket.com
