SouthCoast’s Most Surprising Fried Rice Comes From This Coastal Café
Restaurant Week has taken The MGM Show all over the SouthCoast this week, but Wednesday’s stop in Padanaram might have delivered the most unexpected standout dish of them all.
We took over the charming Farm & Coast Market at 7 Bridge Street in South Dartmouth, just steps from the Padanaram Bridge. The place has that cozy coastal café vibe the second you walk in – and judging by the menu, they clearly came ready to impress.
We’re talking rich, aromatic lattes, refreshing fruit smoothies, zesty chicken à la vodka, crispy chicken sandwiches with pickles and yum yum sauce, artisan pizzas, buttery French toast, savory crab cake Benedict and vibrant vegan breakfast bowls.
The Fried Rice That Stole the Show
The dish that absolutely stopped me in my tracks: fried rice.
Yes, fried rice. It might be the best I’ve had anywhere on the SouthCoast, and it didn’t come from a Chinese restaurant.
Farm & Coast’s Vegetable Fried Rice Bowl is loaded with ginger, carrots, peas, garlic, wild mushrooms, egg, sesame and soy sauce, all topped with a creamy gochujang aioli and fresh scallions. The flavors are bold, balanced and ridiculously satisfying.
Level Up With Additional Proteins For Flavor That Packs a Punch
Given the options of adding crispy or grilled chicken, steak tips, or salmon, I went with the crispy chicken for the extra protein, and the combination was nothing short of heavenly. Not to mention, the portion size was tremendous.

It’s the kind of dish you don’t expect to find at a coastal café, and yet somehow it completely works.
Restaurant Week has been full of surprises, but this fried rice might be the tastiest one yet.
