The Spirit of Somerset festival is gearing up to hold bigger and better attractions than ever before this year.

According to The Herald News, a soap box derby, clam boil, boat and pony rides, live entertainment, a car show, and fireworks are the attractions that will take place at this year’s festival.

The festival will take place on Saturday, September 19, at Waterfront Park, 38 School St in Somerset.

There will be a wine and cheese fundraiser to benefit veterans on September 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Veterans Hall, on 274 High St., and a lobster dinner the following night, September 18 at 6 p.m. at the hall, sponsored by the Somerset Lions Club.

On the morning of Saturday the 19th, the annual soap box derby will take place near the Pizza Hut on the old Route 6.

Live entertainment at the festival will include the Anthem Reggae Band, Hillside Galileans and Unique Status. There will be many attractions for youngsters, such as pony rides, a petting zoo, a magic show, and face-painting.
