Somerset Auto Shop Fixes Up a Creative Christmas Display
A Somerset auto body shop has been getting creative when it comes to decorating for the holidays, and it's turning heads.
An auto body shop is the last place I would think to find cute holiday decorations, but if you happen to drive down Country Street in Somerset you may find yourself smiling and giggling at a creative holiday scene.
You will see what appears to be Santa with the hood of a truck open and his bag of gifts on the ground. He appears to be stranded. It's cute, and yet a great way to market your auto shop.
My curious mind had to find out the story behind this roadside scene.
Bill and Bobby Jalbert are the brothers that have owned Norwest Automotive for decades. I got to chat will Bill, who has been working six days a week at the shop ever since her graduated from Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School back in 1994.
The boys actually got the truck in hopes they could restore it. They quickly realized it needed more work and time then they could give it. It ended up sitting in their lot for awhile before Bill thought they could place it out front and maybe get some attention.
Well, they succeeded.
The brothers had it decorated for fall and Halloween with pumpkins and even put out two bowls, one with treats and one with tricks.
Now you will find Santa under the hood with tons of presents waiting to be delivered in the bed of the truck.
"We have had a few people pull over thinking someone was stranded," Bill said. "It's definitely gotten some attention."
Don't worry, though; if Santa was stranded, at least he ended up at the right place to get some help.
Oh, and don't worry about the presents in the back. Those perfectly-wrapped presents are actually boxes filled with old broken car parts. If they do get a grinch that comes by to try and steal Christmas, they are only going to end up with useless car parts.
What a clever way to repurpose an old car. You have to admit, it's marketing genius.
I can't wait to see what the Jalbert brothers come up with next.
