Smartphone Batteries Recalled Due To Fire Hazard
If you had your cell phone refurbished by AT&T, your battery may be faulty.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled over 10,000 cellphone batteries that pose a fire hazard to users.
The batteries were placed in refurbished AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4 cellphones by FedEx Supply Chain and distributed as replacement phones through AT&T’s Insurance program only.
According to the CPSC, some of the recalled batteries are counterfeit and can lead to overheating, cause burns or even fires.
The recalled batteries were NOT the original batteries in the Samsung phones.
Anyone with a refurbished battery should immediately power down their smartphone and remove the battery. A new battery will be mailed to anyone with a recalled battery. The new one will feature a green dot.
The affected batteries were placed in the refurbished phones between December 2016 and April 2017.
No injuries were reported from the faulty batteries.
