A New Store is Coming to the Dartmouth Mall Later This Year

The Dartmouth Mall continues to grow.

Shoppers can look forward to another new store off Route 6 as the mall’s parent company, PREIT, announced Skechers will join over 60 other stores in the popular mall.

Making Dartmouth Mall a Hot-Spot

PREIT owns and manages innovative properties that line the East Coast, and they aim to make Dartmouth Mall a hot-spot destination for the SouthCoast. Last fall, ALDI was added to the mix, as well as Burlington and a newly renovated AMC Theatres.

Zumiez was the latest addition to open, a leading specialty retailer of apparel and hard goods that caters to the young, active lifestyle. Next up is Skechers, which will be added to the directory later this year. It will be home to a 10,000-square-foot space where consumers can shop the latest styles of lifestyle footwear for men, women, and kids.

“The sales performance of Dartmouth Mall and the addition of these tenants is a testament to the strategic steps we have taken the past few years to position Dartmouth Mall as a shopping and entertainment destination tailored to best serve the community,” said Joseph F. Coradino, CEO of PREIT. “We’ve seen traffic continue to increase month over month as consumer demand grows.”

It's been a busy week for business announcements on the SouthCoast. Earlier this week, The Vault Music Hall and Pub in downtown New Bedford abruptly closed, and a few days later, Whaling City Diner announced it was closing for good on 6/18.

The pandemic has been challenging for a lot of businesses. In response to the pandemic, online shopping became hugely popular and almost necessary, but if I’m being honest, I hate shopping for apparel online. I’m the type of person that needs to try things on before I commit to buying. It’s exciting to hear that Dartmouth Mall continues to evolve and offer the SouthCoast top brands, so fashionistas like myself can have plenty of options while shopping.
