You may think your favorite spring and summer activities are over when winter rolls around, but Seekonk Grand Prix is saying "Not so fast."

The family fun center tries to keep as many of its attractions running as often as possible and one semi-outdoor family favorite can actually operate all year long.

It seems the bumper cars at the grand prix are heated and you can smash and bash with your friends and family all year-round.

When I saw this posted on the Seekonk Grand Prix Facebook, I instantly wondered what "heated bumper cars" meant. Are there tiny heaters in the cars like in a regular car? Images of my heated seats came to mind as well. Yet neither of those theories was correct.

I spoke with co-owner Terry Darling who told me about the steel building holding the bumper cars and how about five years ago they said, "Let's utilize this building and put some heat in here."

That's exactly what they have done. The building's garage-like doors (which are typically wide open in the spring and summer) get closed down, the heaters get turned on and, just like that, you have bumper car fun all winter long.

Even those waiting for the next ride in the cars can beat the cold in a custom built plastic enclosure that makes a covered walkway to wait under. That space too is heated and well ventilated for avoiding all this freezing rain we've been getting.

Seekonk Grand Prix features vintage bumper cars with real car steering wheels and super durable bumpers. Twenty riders can bump and bash at a time and if you bring the kids, anyone under 48 inches tall can ride free with an adult.

There's also plenty of arcade action, a ropes course and climbing wall open each weekend, too.

Talk about beating the winter blues.

Heated bumper cars run every week and will be open each day during February vacation week. So get out and ride this winter!
