For some reason, I'm hearing more and more about sharks this year in local waters. I will admit, I am a lover of the sea and have always wanted to go scuba diving. That was of course before I saw this incredible footage of a great white off the shores of Cape Cod.

The camera-man (or woman) in this video captured a rare sighting of a seal and a great white leaping simultaneously out of the water in a cat mouse chase. All is well that ends well, for the seal's sake at least. As for the shark, looks like he's not having seal for lunch. The video does not depict what happened afterward, but to take a second and ponder on the mighty power of both animals to be able to propel themselves clean out of the water is a sheer amazement to me!

According to the Cape Cod Times, the shark was tagged at a whopping 12 feet long. Picture yourself for a moment standing beside a basketball hoop and looking up. From the ground to the top of the backboard.... Yeah, that's the comparison of you and the shark. Now just add rows upon rows of sharp, meat-mangling teeth and a powerful thrashing tail and you'll have a frightening depiction of what it would be like to encounter a great white of that magnitude and size. Yikes! Score one for the seal, it gets to live another day.
