Rochester Police: Human Baby Found Among Recycling at Plant

UPDATE: Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz's office said the baby was a "newborn infant" and its remains "were found within a trash collection that was trucked to the facility for disposal." ROCHESTER (WBSM) — Rochester Police report that for the second time this year, a human baby was found among the recycling products being processed at the Harvey Waste recycling facility.

According to a police Facebook post, Rochester dispatch received a 911 call at about 10:40 a.m. today from the facility, located on the Cranberry Highway in Rochester.

“The caller reported that employees had found what appeared to be the body of a human baby in the recycling products,” police wrote. “All processing was stopped, and the Rochester Police began investigating.”

Massachusetts State Police and the Medical Examiner’s Office are also taking part in the investigation.

In April of this year, the remains of a newborn baby girl were found at the same facility.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois said at the time that the mother of the child “may live on, have ties to, or recently traveled to Martha’s Vineyard.”

Less than a week later, Galibois said the investigation into that child’s remains suggested “the health and welfare of the mother may be at risk” and that “identifying her as soon as possible (was) of paramount importance and urgency.”
