Every Halloween the Wetlands Trail at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence becomes a sea of orange, with hundreds of pumpkins on display for the Jack O' Lantern Spectacular (JOLS).

This year, something gigantic and green will be among them.

Rhode Island farmer Joe Jutras of Scituate is showing the crowds his world-record breaking green squash.

Jutras has partnered with Roger Williams Park Zoo for years, providing pumpkins for the annual JOLS. He has also been a long-time competitive grower, with numerous records for his pumpkins and squashes.

He topped himself with one of his green squashes this year, however, growing a world-recording breaking 2,200 pound giant that will officially go in the record books.

To celebrate his largest ever grow, Jutras is displaying the 2,200 pound green squash at Roger Williams Park Zoo for the remainder of the JOLS season.

That means guests of the seasonal event will see the huge squash among thousands of carved pumpkins through November 2, 2025.

This year's Spectacular features thousands of intricately carved pumpkins, illuminated each night on the zoo's Wetlands Trail. With the trivia theme returning for its second season, guests can enjoy the displays along with a brain teaser or two throughout the trail.
