
Rhode Island Firefighters Will Be Honored at National Memorial
Two local firefighters will be posthumously honored this weekend at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Maryland.
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is a nonprofit that began in 1992 with the mission of honoring "America's fallen fire heroes; support their families, colleagues, and organizations; and work to reduce preventable firefighter death and injury."
Paying Tribute to Local Heroes
Each year, all those lost in the line of duty are honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

The event is attended by thousands as they pay tribute to the brave men and women who serve our communities, our states and our country day in and day out.
This spring, 70 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2024 and 70 who died in previous years will make up the 2025 Roll of Honor at the memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Rhode Island Fire Fighters Honored
Battalion Chief of Training and Safety John N. Carnegis from the North Providence Fire Department in Rhode Island passed in August on 2024 from cancer.
Kingston Fire District Assistant Chief Allan P. LePage passed in 2009 from injuries sustained at the firehouse.

Both Rhode Island fire fighters will be part of the ceremony May 3-4.
“This weekend is a powerful reminder of the extraordinary courage and commitment of those who put their lives on the line to protect others,” said Troy Markel, Chair of the NFFF Board of Directors.

“We come together not only to remember the fallen, but to stand in solidarity with their families and departments, letting them know their loved ones will never be forgotten," Markel said.
