Local guy Patrick Clarke got amazing drone video coverage of an endangered North Atlantic right whale in the ocean waters off of the Cape over the weekend.

It's about that time of year when we can look forward to shark and whale sightings and stories, hopefully all positive this season. The drone video below caught live footage of the right whale just off Race Point Beach in Provincetown.

Patrick says he hopes his video will bring awareness to the right whale population, which has been declining steadily over the years. Mr. Clarke is the founder of the store CapeClasp.com which helps support non-profit marine life causes. They craft and sell everything from Cape Cod-inspired jewelry to "Make Waves" t-shirts and other neat handmade crafty items. Check out their website and Facebook page for a look at their cool product.

CoastalStudies.com has lots of information and facts about endangered North Atlantic right whales.

If you're a big fan of whales and all things ocean (living or not), you'll love a whale watch adventure this spring and summer. There are many coastal towns that offer these excursions, like Plymouth, Hyannis, Falmouth and Provincetown, too.
