Providence Woman Has Unforgettable Experience on ‘Wheel of Fortune’
An East Providence woman was able to check off an item on her bucket list when she was chosen to participate in one of her favorite game shows, Wheel of Fortune.
Her episode aired on Monday, and while she didn’t make it to the bonus round, she certainly didn’t leave Los Angeles empty-handed.
Meet Becky Bass
Becky Bass is a St. Croix native who has called Rhode Island home for the past ten years. She attended Brown University and has been a professional musician and actress ever since.
Music and artistic expression have always been a huge part of her life, but in her free time, you’ll find her watching the game show network.
“I’m a huge game show person,” she said. “Wheel of Fortune, Jeapordy!, The Price is Right…I’ve been watching them since I was a kid.”
Becky Tested Her Luck and Won
Last year, while watching Wheel of Fortune, she saw an ad encouraging people to apply to be on the show.
“On a whim, I applied in 2020, and then three years later, I heard from (Wheel of Fortune) that I had been selected for a virtual audition," said Bass.
After answering a few questions and solving a few puzzles, she heard from the production team again in November, and this time, they told her she was officially chosen for the big show.
“They gave me December 1st as a tape date, and I had 3 weeks to figure out how to get over to Los Angeles,” shared Bass.
She brought her mom along for the experience and felt so blessed to live out a dream she has had since childhood.
The Most Surprising Part Of Wheel of Fortune
For two days, Bass got to experience Wheel of Fortune in a whole new way.
“What surprised me the most was that they film six episodes in one day,” she shared. “I met all the contestants for the week in that one day, and I got to meet such interesting people.”
Bass and the other contestants were given a chance to practice spinning the wheel and go over the rules, and the entire experience felt surreal.
“Meeting Vana White and Pat Sajak was crazy,” shared Bass. “I feel very lucky, very blessed, and very grateful. It really was a great experience.”
She didn’t make it to the bonus round, but Bass managed to take home five thousand dollars.
It was an experience she will never forget.
Watch the Wheel of Fortune weeknights on WPRI 12 at 7 pm.
