The Blizzard of '26 was one for the history books. Literally. It surpassed the iconic Blizzard of '78, a feat that many never thought they'd witness.

Frog & Toad, a Providence, Rhode Island gift shop that's been around for over 25 years, decided to commemorate the epic snowfall with a special t-shirt.

Designing the Commemorative T-Shirt

"At Frog & Toad, we have two staff artists, Michael Ezzell and Maret Bondorew," shop owner Asher Schofield said. "Each artist submitted designs and while they were all awesome, I decided to go with this one."

A giant snowbank sits in the background, a nod to the 37-plus inches that fell in our area. In front, a person fully bundled in boots, snow pants and jacket with shovel in hand. Everyone wore similar attire as we spent days shoveling out.

Iconic Art Inspiration: R. Crumb Homage

"I love the current design, which was made by Maret," Schofield said. "It is in homage to the amazing artist R. Crumb. His 'keep on trucking' artwork was an iconic image associated with the Grateful Dead and debuted in the 1970s."

"We thought that made it very appropriate to use given the fact that the storm surpassed the Blizzard of 1978," Schofield said.

Once the image was approved, Frog & Toad got to work. "We screen printed all of the shirts in our studio on Westminster Street and currently have sizes extra small to 3XL in stock," Schofield said.

"We’ve gotten a huge response and have already sold a ton,"
