Possible New Plaza in Somerset
A hotel, fast food restaurant and a larger commercial business possibly a larger sit in restaurant could be going into the vacant land at 500 GAR Highway directly across from the Home Depot plaza.
The Fall River Herald reports that Somerset Town Administrator Richard Brown confirms that High Road Hospitality won the bid last week. They are headed by Marc Landry and have 30 years of hospitality industry and some of their recent projects include a Hampton Inn & Suites, Starbucks and Moe's Southwest Grill being built in the newly converted Forbes Crossing on the Foxboro/Mansfield line at Patriots Place.
If we get a Moe's here on the Southcoast, I will be one happy girl, they are the best!
So what do town officials think?
As quoted from The Herald News, “The fourth time was the charm (advertising the sale). Thanks to everybody it worked,” Brown said, thanking Selectman Holly McNamara for reaching out to the developers. “I’m very impressed with their proposal and I think it’s a perfect fit for the piece of land and for our community,” McNamara said, having met with Landry, his engineer and lawyer.
For now, we sit and wait as Mr. Brown negotiates a purchase and sale agreement with High Road Hospitality. There is a selectmen's meeting in May when we will hopefully learn more.
