WAREHAM — Authorities have released a description of the vehicle that fled the scene after striking an on-duty Onset firefighter on Cranberry Highway, near the Onset Avenue intersection on Friday night.

According to the Boston Herald, police on the South Coast and Cape Cod are on the lookout for a gray Subaru Hatchback with extensive damage suspected of striking and critically injuring the firefighter, who was assigned to a storm-related incident on Cranberry Highway near the Onset Avenue intersection during the incident.

Wareham Police said the car likely has extensive side mirror and front and passenger side damage from the impact. The vehicle, they said, was headed east toward Bourne.

The firefighter was hit at approximately 7 p.m. and was taken to a hospital in Rhode Island. His identity and condition have yet to be disclosed.
