Police: Drunk Driver Rips Up Custom House Square Park in New Bedford

New Bedford Police say a drunk driver plowed through the fencing which is protecting Custom House Square Park as it is under construction. In the early morning of the 4th of July, the officer saw the driver "spinning his tires and kicking up dirt as if he was on some 'off road course'".

The driver fled the wrong way down South Second Street (a one way street) when he saw the NBPD cruiser. Police say 26 year old Michael Cabral blew a .19 on his breathalyzer test, more than double the legal limit. He'll be in court this morning.
