A father, son and best friend from New Bedford aim to bring something new and fresh to the area, and Pokémoto is the answer.

Meet the Owners of Pokémoto

Taylor Kuliga was born and raised in New Bedford. He owns a small real estate business, but he was eager to add to the culinary scene of his favorite city in a unique way. He enlisted the help of his father, Bob Kuliga, and his best friend, Kyle Richard, to bring his idea to life.

“We were looking for a franchise and had strict criteria (for it),” he said. “We didn’t want to open another chicken or burger place.”

When Kuliga discovered Pokemoto, he knew it was the perfect fit for the SouthCoast.

Pokémoto's Story

Pokémoto started in New Haven, Connecticut, thanks to Thomas Nguyen, who fell in love with traditional Hawaiian poke after living in Hawaii. He returned to New England with a dream to bring a poke bowl company to the area, and after gaining success with his first location across from Yale University, Pokémoto quickly expanded across the country.

What Is Poke?

Poke is native Hawaiian cuisine, traditionally made up of diced fresh fish.

Think of it as deconstructed sushi, with protein, mix-ins, toppings, and a little crunch.

The SouthCoast is known for fresh seafood; now locals can enjoy it in a new way.

What to Expect at Pokémoto Dartmouth

Guests will walk up to the counter and start by picking their base of salad, white or brown rice, or even a sushi burrito. Move down the line and fill your creation with veggies, protein, sauces, and add-ons.

There are over 70 ingredient combinations to choose from. Proteins like ahi tuna, salmon, shrimp, and chicken are on the menu, and sauces like sweet teriyaki, wasabi, and spicy mayo add another layer of flavor.

“Depending on your mood, you can definitely find something that you want,” said Kuliga. “It ranges from healthy to indulgent.”

Pokémoto Is a Slice of Paradise

Surfboard tables, bright colors, boba teas, and Hawaiian soda. Kuliga hopes Pokémoto offers a taste of Hawaii right on Faunce Corner Road.

“I want to bring a Hawaiian slice of vacation every time you come in,” he said.

Pokémoto is coming to 127 Faunce Corner Road and aims to open its doors this fall.
