After another gut-wrenching loss last week, the New England Patriots are again in search of their first home win of the season when they face the New York Jets on Sunday. New England is coming into the divisional matchup with a 2-4 record, and the Jets are coming in at 1-4 after having their bye last week.

The Patriots already defeated the Jets 25-6 down in the Meadowlands back in Week 2, and Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson threw four interceptions during that matchup. On Sunday, the Patriots look to sweep the Jets for the season.

ABC 6 Sports Director Nick Coit believes the Patriots’ offensive growth over the last few weeks puts them in good position to beat the Jets.

Despite the overtime loss to the Cowboys last week, Coit is impressed by the relationship that Patriots quarterback Mac Jones continues to develop with tight end Hunter Henry and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne. Henry has caught a touchdown in each of the last three games, and Bourne caught the 75-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter last week that gave the Patriots hope at the end of the game.

Coit says that it is time for the Patriots to start turning moral victories into actual victories. While they have gotten close to victories against two of the top teams in the NFL, with their games against Dallas and Tampa Bay, the Patriots are itching to prove that they can be a winning football team.

With their offensive improvements, and the simple fact that the New York Jets are still the Jets, Coit is picking the Patriots to get their first home win of the season this Sunday at Gillette.
