In the words of rapper Eminem: guess who's back, back again.

Known for his no-nonsense pizza reviews, Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy recently paid a visit to Marc Anthony’s Pizzeria in Onset to give a One Bite Review.

Marc Anthony's, a staple of the community since 1977, made an impression with its traditional pizza, which Portnoy described as a refreshing change after sampling numerous bar pies in recent reviews.

In his usual review style, Portnoy offered his first impressions, noting the pizzeria’s spacious layout and prime Cape Cod location (although technically Wareham/Onset is just the "gateway" to the Cape).

"This place is huge," he commented, imagining the summer crowds that likely flock to it.

He also gave a nod to their impressive hours, open for delivery until midnight, which he admitted made Mark Anthony's stand out.

"If you open late, you ain’t great, but this place, we'll see,” he teased.

Portnoy's review, however, took an unexpected turn when local guitar legend Chris Ingraham made a cameo, interrupting to share his own love for Mark Anthony’s pizza.

"Best pizza in the world, I love these guys, and I live right down the street,” said Ingraham, who went on to name-drop rock icons like Eddie Money and ACDC among his former collaborators.

"I played with a lot of different people," he said.

After a few more bites, Portnoy delivered his final verdict, awarding Marc Anthony's Pizzeria a solid 7.4.

It’s a respectable score, especially for a traditional pizza in an area known more for its seafood than slices. With Portnoy’s stamp of approval and a cameo from a local music icon, Mark Anthony’s Pizzeria is now officially on the map for Cape Cod pizza fans.

The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust. We reached out to the hugely popular South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club Facebook group to ask the experts to share the best of the best (in no particular order).
