There was a sewage leak in Wareham yesterday that has led to the temporary closing of Onset Beach.

The leak was caused by a malfunctioning trigger and workers spent a majority of the day trying to stop any more sewage from making its way to the sea. According to WBZ TV, the harbormaster estimated that 4,000 gallons got away which caused the closing of not only Onset Beach but about a dozen more beds of water in the Wareham area.

Testing on the water is set to take place early this morning and depending on the results, the beaches could open as soon as tomorrow.
