Old Rochester Regional High School Unified Basketball Team Celebrates Undefeated Season
The players for the Old Rochester Regional High School (ORRHS) Unified Basketball team were the stars of last week’s pep rally as The Bulldogs were recognized and celebrated for their perfect 2023 season.
On Friday, October 18th, the students and faculty of ORRHS rallied around the star players as a banner was raised in the gymnasium in their honor.
Principal Devoll, Director Carrig, and Coach Fenton were thrilled to bestow the honor on the hard-working athletes.
“Congratulations to our talented Unified Basketball team on their impressive season,” said Superintendant Nelson. “Thank you to Principal Devoll, Director Carrig, and Coach Fenton for their amazing work in providing this special recognition for our players. It’s times like these that we see and feel the positive impact of inclusivity and comradery amongst our wonderful students and staff.”

The stands were packed with students holding up hand-made signs for the players. Members of the team got a chance to run through a banner and receive high-fives from their classmates, just like the pros do.
“The Unified Bulldogs embody the value of dedication and hard work,” said Athletic Director Carrig. “Teamwork and the joy that comes with it are on full display in everything they do, and I couldn’t be prouder of the success they’ve earned.”
The ORRHS Unified Sports Program is made possibly by Special Olympics Massachusetts in partnership with the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. It gives students with disabilities the opportunity to play high school sports alongside their peers in a fun and supportive environment.
“The team is truly something special and to see their hard work and dedication recognized is amazing,” said Coach Fenton. “Opportunities like this really promote inclusion and give our United athletes credit for their accomplishments. While the wins are impressive, the banner truly represents the power of United Sports where every student, regardless of ability, (can) shine and contribute!”
