A Seekonk restaurant added something bright to the menu for June and is getting backlash on social media.

Businesses across the SouthCoast are celebrating Pride Month in their own ways.

The Old Grist Mill Tavern in Seekonk decided to add a rainbow cake to the menu. It's generating some equally colorful opinions.

In a Facebook post, the longtime restaurant posted a picture of the decadent rainbow cake with a simple statement: "Love is Love."

WIthin hours, hundreds of comments were under the post with varying opinions on whether the cake belongs on the menu. Some voiced support. Others voiced disapproval. At least a couple of people wrote that they plan to never visit the restaurant again.

Take a look:

I usually try to keep myself out of "controversial" topics but this cake controversy is really getting under my skin. I have one simple thought and I'll leave you to think how you wish.

If you don't like the cake, then don't eat it. Otherwise, go ahead. Have your cake and eat it, too.

Let's all be mindful that many businesses we frequent are owned or operated by members of the LGBTQI community. This business is one of them. It's also an institution on the SouthCoast, having provided thousands of customers with good food and customer service for generations. The owners are not only showing their support with this simple addition to the menu for the month, but they are also supporting employees who may also be members of the LGBTQI community.

It's cake, people. Cake that just so happens to be colorful. Don't like it, don't order it.
