A Fall River animal shelter is asking for the community’s help.

When Odette arrived to the shelter, she appeared to be suffering from an injury. A trip to the vet confirmed the injury was serious and would require a heartbreaking surgery with a hefty vet bill.

Forever Paws Animal Shelter hopes to give Odette a pain-free life, but the shelter will need our help to get it done.

“Odette came to us a stray; a day or so into her stray hold, we noticed that she was favoring her hind leg,” shared the shelter. “While waiting for an owner to call or come for her, we scheduled her to be seen at the vet who confirmed a fracture through the growth plate.”

Odette is a sweet, happy, and loving pup. The shelter was shocked that no one came to retrieve her, but they continued to care for her and contact veterinarians to see what could be done.

“After reaching out to multiple veterinarians for assistance, the consensus is that the best path forward for Odette will be a complete leg amputation,” shared the shelter.

Odette is scheduled for surgery next week and the shelter has been quoted a bill of $4,406.55.

The shelter was not prepared for a vet bill of this magnitude, but they are determined to give Odette a happy, pain-free life.

“We know times are tough, we know money is tight,” said the shelter. “We hate to ask for help when we know that so many people are struggling, but a puppy like Odette deserves a chance for a happy, long, pain-free life. She deserves her chance at happiness.”

The shelter kindly asks for monetary donations in any amount as they continue to care for sweet Odette. No amount is too small.

If you cannot donate, the shelter implores you to share Odette’s story with others and spread the word to attract as many helping hands as possible.

Let’s come together for Odette. She may not have a forever home (yet), but she is loved by so many.
