What’s up with all the Sasquatch sightings in North Dartmouth? I'm not talking about "the" actual Bigfoot, but rather the massive wooden roadside cutouts that I'm just noticing.

If you travel enough backroads around the SouthCoast, you get used to spotting the usual stuff: deer crossing, wild turkeys, even a loose cow or two. However, recently, while cruising through North Dartmouth where Shawmut Ave meets High Hill Road, something definitely made me do a double take.

Actually, two double takes.

Full-on Sasquatch wooden cutouts stood guard at separate driveways about a half-mile apart. They're large and impossible to miss. I can’t unsee them.

One Even Dressed for the Holidays

One of these mystery Bigfoots (Bigfeet?) even took things a step further, rocking a festive Christmas hat like he’s fully committed to the holiday spirit. Honestly, that somehow makes the whole vibe even better.

It’s so quirky and random, but I'm here for it.

The Real Question: Why Sasquatch?

Here’s the thing: I’ve driven this road plenty of times and never clocked them before. Maybe they’re new, or maybe I just wasn’t paying attention – or maybe Sasquatch is just sneaky like that.

I have no clue who owns them. No clue if there’s a story behind them. No clue if it’s neighbor rivalry, an inside joke, or just plain ol' coincidence. The only lead I have is that the owners of a newish and quaint restaurant in Westport called Backyard has one of these giant cutouts as their mascot.

Perhaps there's a connection?

Either way, it got me talking, it got you reading, and now I’m officially curious:

What the heck are these Dartmouth Sasquatches all about? Shoot me an email: Gazelle@Fun107.com. If you know the story, I’m all ears.

LOOK UP: Recent UFO Sightings on the SouthCoast

There are frequently things that can't be explained in the skies above the SouthCoast. The National UFO Reporting Center keeps a database of all of the reports of unidentified flying objects that are submitted by those who see them, and you can see just how often they appear right above our own heads.

Paranormal Activity Reported in Massachusetts' Bridgewater Triangle

In his 1983 book Mysterious America, cryptozoologist Loren Coleman introduced a term he originally coined in the late 1970s – the Bridgewater Triangle – to describe an area with an abnormal level of paranormal activity and high strangeness in Southeastern Massachusetts. Over the years, the concept of the Triangle has expanded to include ghostly reports, UFO sightings, cryptid encounters, alien abductions and more across a wider swath of Southern New England.
