NORTH ATTLEBORO (WBSM) — Authorities have released the identity of a person killed in a crash that involved two tractor trailers early Wednesday on Interstate 95 in North Attleboro.

Mansfield Man Identified as Crash Victim

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced today that Chad Askew, 43, of Mansfield died at a local hospital from injuries suffered in the crash.

Massachusetts State Police and Attleboro Police responded near mile marker 3.2 on I-95 North shortly before 6 a.m. on March 4. They arrived to find a blue Honda Civic had crashed into a tractor trailer. Askew had been the driver and sole occupant of the Civic.

Car Struck Parked Tractor Trailers

Police also found a white semi-trailer with no tractor attached and a red Volvo tractor with a semi-trailer attached, both parked in the breakdown lane. The trucks had reportedly been parked in the breakdown lane when they were struck by the Civic.

The truck drivers were not on the scene when police arrived.

Investigation Remains Active

Quinn said the investigation remains active and ongoing by Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the D.A.’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police CARS Unit, the Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section and Attleboro Police.
