According to WPRI 12, Nordstrom in the Providence Place Mall will be closing after nearly 20 years in business. Nordstrom has been one of the anchor stores for Providence Place since 1999. The store's doors will officially close on Friday, January 4, 2019. Customers will be happy to know that they can at least finish their Christmas shopping this holiday season before saying goodbye.

"The decision to close a store is always a tough one for us because we know it impacts both our customers and our employees," Jamie Nordstrom, president of Nordstrom stores, said in a statement.

Nordstrom added that the Providence Place store closure will affect 187 non-seasonal workers, and the company "is working with each impacted employee to determine their next steps."

Luckily, the Nordstrom Rack location at the Warwick Mall in Rhode Island will remain open. Boscov's department store will be moving into the Nordstrom location.
