No Charges Filed in Wareham Motel Incident
WAREHAM — There will be no charges filed after a man allegedly barricaded himself inside of a Wareham motel Tuesday morning, claiming to have a weapon and threatening to harm himself.
Multiple news outlets are reporting that the 36-year-old Raynham man was taken into custody late Tuesday morning and taken to Tobey Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. He also suffered minor injuries when he was subdued by a K-9.
Members of the Wareham Police, State Police, and the SEMLEC SWAT team responded to the Silver Lake Motel at 3026 Cranberry Highway at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday. Others staying at the motel were evacuated, and officers began trying to deescalate the situation. At about 9:30 a.m., they forced their way into the room and placed the man into custody.
No charges have been filed at this time, so the man's name will not be released. The incident is still under investigation, but police said they found no weapons in the room, and that the man was the only person inside the room at the time.
