Mayor announces new public safety complex 

Mayor Mitchell and City officials announced plans to build a new public safety station  in the South End of New Bedford , a station that will be combining two Fire stations, The South End Police station and Paramedics assigned to Medic 2

The City will hire a consultatant to determine the location for the new station to ensure a four minute rerspons time to any emergency. This will be the first new public safety housing Police Fire and EMS building constructed in nearly sixty years

“The City is long overdue for new fire and police stations. This CIP reflects my administration’s commitment to giving our emergency responders the tools they need to keep New Bedford’s neighborhoods safe,” said Mayor Mitchell.

As part of a Capital improvement plan the city will also replace some aging Police,Fire ad EMS vehicles . The plan also sets aside monies for other city projects
