There’s no escaping that New Bedford has recently suffered some losses in recent months – the casino, 2024 Olympics, the Cape Wind fiasco, must we continue?

The Boston Globe just published an article focusing on New Bedford’s recent setbacks, but also highlighting new projects for the future.

Okay, so the jobs the casino and Cape Wind would have provided are no longer in New Bedford’s future, but city leaders are focusing on the positives. Safety on the streets and improving the school system has become a top priority to many city residents.

Michael Goodman, executive director of the Public Policy Center at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, says that if we continue these efforts than New Bedford has a bright future.

“As difficult as it may be, improving those fundamentals will position the community for success in the future,” Goodman predicts.

We will have to wait to see what’s next for the SouthCoast!
