It's a classic "out with the old, in with the new" scenario in New Bedford as a staple pizza place has permanently closed its doors.

Linden House of Pizza at 58 Linden St. is best known for its cheese and pepperoni pizza slices. If you knew about the secret menu items (such as housemade fried dough), then chances are you've visited frequently.

Sadly, Linden Pizza is no more, but there's a new chicken place in town.

Here's what we know about Chicken Story and Boba Story, whose signs have popped up on the Linden building.

Linden was owned and operated by Jimmy and Anne Demopoulos for over 20 years until they ran out of steam and decided to retire a couple of years ago. The property was placed on the market in January 2021 and sold by Tiffany Vieira of RE/MAX Vantage to new owners who only recently sold the business again in 2023.

On April 2, 2023, the exterior was painted bright orange, and cardboard was placed in the windows. Renovations began shortly afterward. By early May, the original pizza signs were taken down and replaced with new business logos.

The new property owner of Chicken Story is Wonsam Lee who is a friend of the Korean cuisine restaurant business owner. The restaurant has two tables for dining and can seat up to eight customers. Korean-style fried chicken, corn dogs, and Boba bubble teas (made with tapioca pearls) are the only menu items we know for sure will be offered.

According to Lee, the restaurant is expected to open in a few months from now. More updates will be posted in the near future- stay tuned.

The Best of South Shore Bar Pizza

There's pizza, and then there's South Shore Bar Pizza. Birthed in Brockton (and to this writer, perfected in Randolph – Lynwood Café is the true G.O.A.T.), it must meet certain qualifications to be considered "SSBP," which include: it's a 10-inch pie; it has a thin, cracker-like crust with minimal "flop;" the cheese is a blend that features more cheddar than mozzarella; and bonus points if you take it home between two carboard-type plates wrapped in flat brown paper bag. They also usually come with "laced" or "burnt" edges (terminology depends on where you are ordering), which is when the sauce and cheese are extended all the way to the edge of the pan, creating a crispy, flavorful coating to the crust. We reached out to the hugely popular South Shore Bar Pizza Social Club Facebook group to ask the experts to share the best of the best (in no particular order).
