Did Alleged Trump Co-Conspirator Carlos De Oliveira Once Live in New Bedford?
Did Carlos De Oliveira, the man recently indicted as a co-defendant in former President Donald Trump’s documents case, once live in New Bedford?
Online records seem to indicate that may be the case.
The 56-year-old De Oliveira, who works as the property manager at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, faces multiple charges in the indictment, including obstruction of justice, destroying evidence and giving false statements.
The indictment alleges that De Oliveira helped Trump’s “body man” Walt Nauta move and conceal classified documents that were under a federal subpoena around the Mar-a-Lago property, as well as loading them onto a plane headed from Trump’s golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey.
De Oliveira is also alleged to have been involved in the deletion of security camera footage sought by investigators related to those activities.
Who Is Carlos De Oliveira?
Many news outlets wrote pieces profiling De Oliveira, who has worked at Mar-a-Lago for over a decade and became the property manager in January 2022. He currently lives in an apartment in a townhouse in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
A CNN article featured an interview with Tiberio Almeida, who is De Oliveira’s landlord, and provided some information on De Oliveira’s background.
In the article, Almeida said he’d known De Oliveira “for about 30 years,” calling him a “very good friend” and that the two men “knew each other when they both lived in Massachusetts before moving to Florida.”
An article from the Daily Mail in the U.K. quoted Almeida as saying De Oliveira had moved to Massachusetts from Portugal over 30 years ago.
Did Carlos De Oliveira Live in New Bedford?
According to WhitePages.com, a 56-year-old Carlos De Oliveira now living at an address in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida has a previous address of 144 Tallman Street in New Bedford. Online resources indicate that De Oliveira lived on Tallman Street in 1995.
Online records with the Bristol County Register of Deeds indicate that his current landlord, Tiberio Almeida, owned a property on Nash Road in New Bedford (falsely listed as Acushnet in some records) from 1973 until 2003.
WBSM reached out to Almeida by phone. When asked if he was the same Tiberio Almeida who is Carlos De Oliveira’s landlord, he responded with, “I don’t want to talk to anyone about that,” and hung up the phone.
We also emailed the office of Special Counsel Jack Smith, who indicted Trump again on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 election, to ask if De Oliveira had a previous address listed in New Bedford.
“Thank you for reaching out to us. We do not have information to share regarding a previous address,” wrote Peter Carr, spokesman for Special Counsel Smith’s Office.
It’s important to note that the two names are not entirely uncommon – in fact, searches for both men’s names actually turned up multiple listings in the immediate Palm Beach area.
