New Bedford Truck Gets Stuck on Train Tracks Despite Flashing Lights and Gate
Is the SouthCoast ready for the highly anticipated arrival of commuter rail? A recent incident on Nash Road in New Bedford raises concerns.
A pickup truck somehow got stuck on a track. Despite flashing red lights warning of a crossing, the driver continued forward, unknowingly driving beneath one of the descending crossing gates. Another driver caught the entire ordeal on video, sharing the footage with Fun 107.
According to the witness, the truck driver exited his vehicle and asked the driver behind him to “hold up the rail” so he could break free.
Fortunately for the driver, this was only a test run. No trains were heading north or south on the tracks at the time.
While the situation could have ended worse, it serves as a timely reminder for residents to be extra-cautious when navigating the city's evolving transportation landscape.
