A parking lot in New Bedford is about to become one heck of a dance floor.

The Gallery Bar is celebrating its second anniversary this Saturday, September 12, and instead of keeping the party contained inside its 20 Kenyon Street location, The Gallery is taking over its parking lot for the second annual Parking Lot Party.

The fun begins at 4 p.m. and goes all the way until 2 a.m. with an indoor-outdoor celebration filled with DJs, dancing, drag performances, food trucks and plenty of surprises. The 21-plus event is rain or shine with a $10 cover.

Two Years of The Gallery Bar

In just two years, The Gallery has established itself as an inclusive gathering place where nightlife, art and community all come together under one roof.

I, myself, saw just how much that community means to The Gallery earlier this year when it hosted New Bedford Pride, welcoming families during the afternoon before transitioning into an adult event later that evening. This time, they're celebrating a milestone.

Turning a Parking Lot Into a Party

For Saturday's anniversary bash, outdoor alcohol and beer stations will be set up alongside food trucks serving up local favorites. DJs will be spinning both inside and outside, with music and dancing throughout the night.

There will also be drag performances featuring local queens, along with yard games and other social activities. For anyone looking to find out what the future holds, there will even be a tarot card station.
