New Bedford Police Arrest Two Teens Following West End Daytime Shooting

NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — New Bedford Police arrested two juveniles for their alleged involvement in a West End shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

New Bedford Police Response and Scene Investigation

According to police, officers responded at about 3:30 p.m. on September 9 to the intersection of Chestnut Street and Willis Street for a report of shots fired. They arrived to find spent shell casings and damage to several nearby houses.

Police also learned that two masked juveniles were seen in the area and allegedly shot at a person who was not injured. The two 17-year-old suspects were found in a residence not far from where the shooting occurred.

Weapons and 3D-Printed Gun Evidence Seized

Detectives seized two firearms believed to be used in the incident, as well as a 3D printer, a handgun frame police said is believed to have been made by a printer, ammunition, clothing, and masks.

Charges Filed Against the Arrested Teens

The two juveniles were arrested and charged with a number of offenses including assault with intent to murder, carrying a loaded firearm while unlicensed, and intentional discharge of a firearm near a building causing property damage. One of the juveniles also faces additional charges related to creating a firearm with a 3D printer.

Their identities were not released due to their age.
