It’s a bittersweet day on the SouthCoast and in the wrestling community.

Teddy Goodz, born Ted Bolduc, has been a prominent figure in professional wrestling for many years. The Westport man recently announced his retirement from in-ring competition, choosing to focus on family and his Downtown New Bedford business Cojo's Toy World.

Bolduc’s journey into the wrestling world began when he was 12. By 16 or 17, he was actively wrestling, over the years building up the persona of Teddy Goodz. His career highlights include appearances on WWE SmackDown, where he competed against notables including Gunther, and participation in Wrestlemania XL in Philadelphia as part of Drew McIntyre's entourage.

At 42, Bolduc is reflecting on his long career and the physical toll it has taken.

“I’m happy I can still walk,” he said, acknowledging the wear and tear of years in the ring.

Bolduc also noted his wife's disbelief about his retirement plans, highlighting how he has been hinting at the decision for a few years.

Teddy Goodz Eyes the Future

Bolduc’s retirement is timely, as his wife is pregnant, and he is eager to spend more time with his growing family.

Despite stepping away from wrestling, Bolduc will continue promoting local wrestling events and supporting high school and charity matches.

His final show is planned for September 22 in New Bedford, at a larger venue than initially planned due to expected attendance: Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School. A percentage of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated back to the school.

Tickets go on sale via Eventbrite on Friday, August 2, at noon.

When asked about the peak of his career, Bolduc humbly noted that he hit his stride around the age of 39 or 40, a rarity in the wrestling industry. His ability to maintain his performance level so late in his career is pure dedication and resilience.

Beyond wrestling, Bolduc has made a significant impact as a local businessman.

Cojo's Toy World, the toy store he co-owns with his cousin, Jason Aguiar, recently expanded to a larger location on William Street. The store is a beloved establishment, offering a wide range of toys and collectibles.

His supporters have been with him every step of the way.

“I don’t call them fans; I call them friends because honestly, that’s what they’ve become over the years,” he said.

Bolduc said he looks forward to continuing his community engagement through his toy store and local events, aiming to bring joy to the community in new ways.
