It's the time of year again to be on the lookout for Santa Claus. You never know when he's going to pop up, but if you're lucky enough, he sometimes gives his location in advance.

Now, I'm not one to brag, but having a private hotline for jolly ol' St. Nicholas comes with responsibility. Every kid wants to meet Santa, but he's a very busy man indeed. That's why having the inside scoop on his whereabouts always pays off.

That being said, I'll let you in on a little secret: on Sunday, December 12, Santa and his elf friends can be found over at the intersection of Delano and South 2nd Street (56 Delano Street, New Bedford) at the Portuguese Sports Club in New Bedford from 12-3 p.m. Bring the kids for a meet-and-greet with Kris Kringle himself. Milk, juice and cookies will be offered for all who attend this free event.

A toy drive will be held simultaneously, so if you'd like to bring a toy for a boy and a girl, the Portuguese Sports Club will then donate to local families here on the SouthCoast. If anyone would like to donate toys, the club will be hosting a toy drive up until the day that Santa Claus comes to town. All toys must be new and wrapped before drop off.

Ready for the best part? All children who attend will be given an age-appropriate toy from the big man himself. For further information, please reach out to Susan at (508) 441-2771.

Farms Closest to New Bedford for Tagging Your Christmas Tree

There are surprisingly no cut-your-own Christmas tree farms on the SouthCoast. Most local families get pre-cut trees from a variety of places, but for those who want to get a little more hands-on this holiday, there are a few places within driving distance to not only cut your own tree, but to also tag it earlier in the season.
