New Bedford Police have been notified of a video circulating on Facebook that shows a baby alone in a car for several minutes.
The video, uploaded Thursday by Bryan Amaral, shows the child sitting in the backseat of a running car at Gas Express on Tarkiln Hill Road. After over two minutes, a woman returned to the vehicle. She was scolded by the videographer before driving out of the parking lot.
New Bedford Police spokesman Lt. Amos Melo tells WBSM News he has reviewed the video, and has sent it to the department's Juvenile Division for further investigation. The incident is also being reported to the Department of Child and Family Services.
Melo says the license plate number of the vehicle, which was displayed in the video, has been processed with the car belonging to a New Bedford resident.
The video has been shared on Facebook over 12,000 times.
