New Bedford Man Facing Breaking and Entering Charges
A New Bedford man was arrested on breaking and entering charges after being spotted by an alert neighbor.
Det. Capt. Steven Vicente says that shortly before 12 p.m. Wednesday they received a 911 call from a neighbor in the Hawthorn St. and Page St. area.
She reported a male going in and out of the neighborhood yards and followed the suspect in her car until he was stopped by an officer.
Additional officers found a home that had been entered through a rear window and exited by the rear door.
Vicente says the 79-year-old homeowner was not home at the time and it appears that the suspect had fled the residence before taking anything.
The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Joseph Moniz, was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in New Bedford District Court.
