A shakeup has been expected for months at the Kilburn Event Center, and last week those changes came to fruition. The New Bedford venue has announced a partnership with a heritage New Bedford catering company.

Kilburn's owners released this statement about the new management structure.

Effective January 1, 2024, we are thrilled to note that D&D Caterers will be the new facility manager and operator of the Kilburn Event Center. Drew Sylvia, their General Manager will continue to manage operations of the Event Center through at least the 2024 season.

Naturally, this makes D&D Caterers the exclusive catering company for the Kilburn Event Center, but Drew Sylvia tells Fun 107 that any previously scheduled events planned with external caterers will be honored.

"There's a few events in 2024 that have outside caterers who were already contracted, so we're honoring those. I know how it is and I don't want these people to have to go back to their vendors and have to cancel."

Sylvia says if everything goes as planned in 2024, he and his father will not only operate the Kilburn Event Center, but they will also be the owners of the enterprise next year.

What Changes Are Expected at Kilburn?

Other than the obvious change in caterers, don't expect too much in the way of changes.

"If you've had D&D cater an event at Kilburn previously, it's basically going to be the same thing," Sylvia says.

Sylvia does say, however, that D&D Catering has improved their services and is now offering some higher-end choices than they have in the past.

Former Kilburn general manager Robb DeSimone will remain on the staff as sales director.
