New Bedford Police Arrest Man on OUI and Weapons Charges
NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — A police chase in New Bedford led to the arrest of a man on weapons and drunk driving charges.
On Saturday, May 18, police were called to Morna Lounge on Acushnet Avenue in response to a male who had threatened security staff with a firearm.
Upon arrival, the suspect fled in his vehicle, leading officers on a pursuit before stopping on Faunce Corner Road in Dartmouth. Police said that during the pursuit, the suspect was driving "erratically" and blew out one of his tires.

The driver, identified as Gerald Ambrose, 20, was taken into custody. Police found him to be intoxicated, and it was later determined that he was operating with a .14 blood/ alcohol level.
Police said that during a search of the vehicle, officers discovered a 9mm handgun loaded with an extended magazine on the driver's side floor, and that they also found an AR-15 rifle with three high-capacity magazines inside the trunk.
Ambrose was charged with a variety of offenses, including assault with a dangerous weapon, failure to stop for police, OUI liquor, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of high-capacity feeding devices, and possession of a firearm with serial numbers defaced, among other charges.
According to police, an additional shotgun and rifle were retrieved that were reported to be at a girlfriend's house in Dartmouth.
