It's usually pretty exciting to see a SouthCoast town or city included in a big list of things from across the state or across the country, but unfortunately, this is not one of those times.

In a 2021 ranking by RoadSnacks, two SouthCoast cities made the list of the worst places to live in all of Massachusetts. To make matters even worse, both ranked pretty high among the top ten.

Now based on past experience, it should really come as no surprise that New Bedford and Fall River both made the list, at No. 3 and 4, respectively. Back in 2017, WalletHub ranked both cities near the very bottom of its list of the best places to live in the Bay State. But let's look at the bright side: Although New Bedford ranked two spots higher on this year's RoadSnacks list compared to 2020, Fall River actually dropped a spot in the rankings.

I think it's safe to say that while both cities have gotten a bad rap over the years, there are still definite highlights when it comes to what the cities have to offer. From historical sites to incredible food, there are plenty of things to discover in New Bedford and Fall River that just don't show in the data. For example, RoadSnacks looked at unemployment and crime rates, as well as median home values and overall population when determining its "worst cities" ranking, while casting aside things that the numbers just won't show you.

So who do you think rounded out the rest of the top ten worst places to live in Massachusetts? Take a look at the list below and see if RoadSnacks got it right.
