FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — A New Bedford juvenile has been taken into custody after police discovered the suspect was allegedly carrying a concealed firearm inside the Seaport Inn in Fairhaven.

On Saturday, December 2, officers responded to the Seaport Inn for an unrelated attempted break-in case.

During the investigation, officers observed a male juvenile on surveillance cameras allegedly concealing a firearm in his waistband. When confronted by police, the suspect allegedly fled from the location.

In the same hotel room where they had confronted the juvenile, police said they also located a loaded handgun, which they believed was the concealed firearm.

The 17-year-old juvenile, whose name will not be released due to age, was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with misleading police, unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.

The juvenile was turned over to the Department of Youth Services.
