There are no parking bans yet but parking bans during snow storms are as normal as running to the store for milk and bread here on the Southcoast.

Being prepared and knowing where you can and can't park will make any storm a little easier for you. Don't be that guy who says " I didn't know I couldn't park here " My response to him is ...Yes you did!

The city of New Bedford, like most towns and cities on the Southcoast, may institute a Parking Ban during this weekend's storm. The city has provided some details on parking bans on the City Of New Bedford Web site.  Keep listing to FUN107 and check FUN107.com for storm information like power outages, cancellations and emergency info.

Parking Bans are put in place during snow storms. They are implemented in order to effectively remove snow from our city streets. Parking is allowed on the north side of all streets going east and west and on the east side of all streets going north and south. During a declared snow emergency, please note that on the streets which are regularly posted for parking on one side of the street only, residents are to obey the signs as usual.

There is no parking on either side of the street in the following areas:

Downtown New Bedford between Walnut Street northerly to the Octopus and County Street easterly to JFK Boulevard
Acushnet Avenue, Coggeshall Street to Tarkiln Hill Road
Ashley Boulevard, Nash Road to Coggeshall Street
County Street, Union Street to Purchase Street
Kempton Street, Rockdale Avenue to Pleasant Street
Mill Street, Rockdale Avenue to Pleasant Street
Cottage Street, Union Street to Durfee Street

As conditions warrant, violations of this parking regulation will be subject to towing, at full cost to the owner of vehicles being towed.

The Southcoast was hit hard last winter with one major storm after another. This season the city has taken steps to make the snow removal process easier and faster. See how New Bedford's crews are gearing up for the winter.

Always remember: Clear your side walk and steps, leave room for Paramedics, Police and Fire Fighters to get down your house and down your street in an emergency. Check on your neighbors and pets. And most importantly, have fun and enjoy the snow!
