New Bedford 16-Year-Old Girl Dies Days After Shooting
NEW BEDFORD (1420 WBSM) — A 16-year-old New Bedford girl who was shot Saturday night in the city's near North End has died as a result of her injuries.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office announced that Anali Farias died Thursday afternoon at an area hospital.
The shooting took place at around 11:30 p.m. on November 5 in the area of Bullard Street and North Front Street. Police were called to 17 Bullard Street to respond to multiple 911 calls for shots fired.
“Shortly thereafter, a bullet-riddled vehicle arrived at Saint Luke's Hospital with the victim, Anali Farias, in the back seat,” the D.A.’s Office said in a release.
New Bedford Police spokesperson Lt. Scott Carola said earlier this week that a juvenile was arrested in connection with the shooting but was not suspected at that time of causing Farias’ injuries.
The incident is now being investigated as a homicide by New Bedford Police and state police detectives assigned to the D.A.’s Office.
