Nantucket Police Join Pink Patch Project for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an important time dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer risks, the importance of early detection, and the treatment options available. In the United States alone, more than 249,000 individuals are diagnosed with invasive breast cancer each year, and nearly 41,000 lives are lost to the disease.
The Nantucket Police Department is once again proud to participate in the nationwide Pink Patch Project, a campaign that unites law enforcement agencies to promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds for cancer treatment support. This year, NPD is offering limited-edition pink patches for $10 each, with proceeds going to a local cause.
Community members can purchase the pink patches at the Nantucket Police Department's permits or dispatch window, located in the lobby at 4 Fairgrounds Road. Payments can be made via cash or check, with checks made out to the Nantucket Police Charitable Association. Mail orders are also accepted; simply include a self-addressed stamped envelope and send to the Nantucket Police Department.
All proceeds from the sales will benefit the Marla Ceely Lamb Fund, a local charity that helps Nantucket residents cover travel expenses for off-island cancer treatments. This fund plays a crucial role in ensuring that island residents can access the care they need during their cancer journeys.
Through the Pink Patch Project, the Nantucket Police Department is showing its commitment to supporting breast cancer awareness and the fight for a cure.
