Massachusetts Shines in Trailer for 'The Perfect Couple'

Your first look at a juicy series filmed in Massachusetts has arrived.

The trailer for The Perfect Couple is packed with drama -- and some beautiful Bay State scenery. The movie, based on a New York Times bestselling Elin Hildebrand novel, is set on Nantucket. It was filmed on the island along with other locations including Mattapoisett.

The limited-run show, coming to Netflix, stars Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning and Eve Hewson.

Ridiculous wealth, love and mystery mix together in this big-budget show.

The Netflix description sets the scene.

Picture this: Nantucket. Summertime. Beautiful weather. Our heroine is deeply in love and about to marry her ideal man, handsome and from an extremely well-to-do family (in fact, the wealthiest family on the island). But when she wakes up on the morning of her wedding, a body is found floating in the harbor. Instead of attending the wedding of the year, the guests are now all suspects.

The six-episode series premieres September 5.

It joins a quickly growing list of Hollywood projects to film on the SouthCoast in recent years. Finestkind, set and filmed in New Bedford, was released on Paramount+ in 2023. The Holdovers, a critically acclaimed movie starring Paul Giamatti, was partially filmed at Fairhaven High School. Actor Charlie Hunnam caused a stir on the SouthCoast when he filmed gritty boxing movie Jungleland largely in Fall River in 2018.

The Perfect Couple boasts some big stars but it looks like Massachusetts might be the biggest star of all.
