Nantucket Diner Just Sold its Third Million-Dollar Scratch Ticker Winner Within Six Months
Some people seem to have all the luck in the world, and in this case, it's not just a person — it's a diner.
Nestled on the picturesque island of Nantucket, known for its stunning real estate, scenic waterfront views and historic charm, you'll find the Old South Diner, a place that has become a surprising hotspot for lottery luck.
According to the Cape Cod Times, on Tuesday, August 20, Sean Durnin, business owner and chef at Sushi Sean 11:11 Bistro on Pleasant Street, was enjoying a casual meal at the diner when he struck it rich. Durnin won a staggering $1 million from the new $10,000,000 Bonanza $20 instant ticket game.
His good fortune adds to a growing legend surrounding the diner.
Remarkably, this is the third time in just six months that a million-dollar scratch ticket has been sold at the diner. Each time, the diner’s owner has received a $10,000 bonus from the lottery, totaling $30,000 in bonus winnings this year.

Durnin’s win came about unusually. While out on a food delivery run, his day took a frustrating turn when a car seat fell out of the bed of his truck, forcing him to backtrack to the area near the diner. Seizing the moment, he stopped in for a meal and bought a scratch ticket, which turned his day and life around.
As for his plans for the newfound wealth, Durnin intends to use the money to help out his son, demonstrating that family comes first.
