The Most Haunted Restaurant in Massachusetts and in America
There are many spirited spots in Massachusetts, but none has the distinction of being one of the top ten most haunted restaurants in America.
There is one restaurant in New England which has been bestowed as one of the most frightening at times. According to yelp.com here's why.
Turner's Seafood at Lyceum Hall stands on the site where Bridget Bishop, the first person executed during the 1692 Salem witch trials, once lived. Bishop was accused of witchcraft and hanged, and some believe her spirit still lingers at this spot.
This Salem, Massachusetts restaurant has an eerie reputation because of its ties to the witch trial during Puritan times.
Over the years, staff and patrons have reported a range of paranormal activity inside Turner’s Seafood. Cold spots, disembodied voices, and unexplained shadows are commonly mentioned, creating an unsettling atmosphere for some guests.
One of the most frequently cited occurrences involves the feeling of being watched, particularly near the stairs and basement areas. Some visitors have even claimed to see the apparition of a woman dressed in 17th-century attire—believed to be the ghost of Bridget Bishop herself.
In addition to Bishop’s rumored presence, there have been other inexplicable events at the restaurant. Glasses have shattered without cause, doors have opened on their own, and objects have mysteriously moved around the space.
If you prefer a happier view of the site, Lyceum Hall was also the location of various speeches from Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, John Quincy Adams, Frederick Douglas, and, where Alexander Graham Bell introducing his new invention, the telephone. It's a historic place, indeed.
