SouthCoast Cat Rescue to Host ‘Casino Night’ to Celebrate One-Year Anniversary
To celebrate its one-year anniversary, a SouthCoast nonprofit feline rescue will host a casino night fundraiser on Jan. 28 at Club Ponta Delgada in New Bedford. All proceeds from the event will go toward the rescue, its “Project Snip” mission and its “Trap, Neuter, Release” program.
Moby Kit Rescue
Moby Kit Rescue is a nonprofit feline rescue that serves the SouthCoast. Founded in December 2021, Moby Kit Rescue has already succeeded in getting over 100 cats fixed and has saved countless animals by finding them forever homes. They are a foster-based rescue and rely on a network of 17 fosters to house, feed, socialize and care for cats and kittens until they are medically cleared for adoption.
As an all-volunteer rescue, Moby Kit is a labor of love, comprised of volunteers with a passion for cats and animal welfare.
Project Snip and the Trap, Neuter, Release Program
“Project Snip” allows the rescue to pay the cost of spaying, neutering and other procedures for families who cannot afford the services.
“We just did 22 cats last week,” Moby Kit Rescue member Julia Morse said.
The “Trap, Neuter, Release” program is for wild cats that cannot be adopted.
“We trap them, get them fixed and then we release them,” Morse said. “If there are kittens, we’ll take them in and get them adopted.”
What to Expect at Moby Kit Casino Night
Morse is excited to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the rescue.
“I have been with (the rescue) for nine months. I have worked with a lot of rescues and (Moby Kit Rescue) is the best,” she said.
The rescue organization is going all out for its big celebration by bringing the excitement of the casino to New Bedford. Formal attire is encouraged and “best dressed” will receive $100. There is a $10 buy-in for the event, giving you 10 poker chips to start off your evening, with opportunities to buy more chips throughout the night. H’orderves and dessert will be provided, with a full bar and raffle items to top off the evening.
“We are solely run on donations,” Morse said. “This fundraiser will go toward food, litter, medical bills, you name it.”
Casino night will be a night of games, prizes and giving back.
Buy tickets to the event online and get ready to play in the name of charity.
